Cln3, DmcycC
regulatory partner of CDK8 - mediator complex component - cofactor for EcR-dependent transcription - links nutrient intake to developmental transitions and fat metabolism - negative regulator of the lipogenic pathway - regulation of Serpent-dependent transcription and innate immunity - involved in small nuclear RNA (snRNA) 3' end processing - recruited to phosphorylate the Notch ICD and coordinate activation with turnover

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
Comment: maternally deposited
CycC expression correlates with periods of maximal cell division throughout Drosophila development. It is expressed maximally in ovaries and in early embryos and at low levels in larvae, pupae, and adults. Expression is uniform throughout the embryo.
Maternal CycC transripts are detected in the embryo. They are concentrated in the islands of yolk-free cytoplasm associated with nuclei, and relocate to the cortical region of the syncytial egg upon nuclear migration to the surface. The signal persists through germband extension but no localized accumulation is seen.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
dsRNA has been made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene.
dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene tested in RNAi screen for effects on Kc167 and S2R+ cell morphology.
Overexpression in the eye-antenna imaginal disc has no effect on the morphology of eyes of the resulting adults.
CycC is a single copy gene. CycC expression in yeast cells lacking cyclin expression can rescue the mutant phenotype.
Cross-species complementation tests reveal that a CycC cDNA clone will rescue S.cerevisiae deficient in cyclin gene functions.
