mustard (mtd) encodes an ecdysone-regulated late puff protein. A isoform including only the C-terminal with a TLDc domain enters the nucleus. This isoform increases intestinal stem cell division and suppresses expression of the antimicrobial peptide encoded by DptA at the transcriptional level, independent of IMD pathway signaling.
