        pgc is essential for repressing phosphorylation of Ser2 residues in the carboxy-terminal domain of RpII215 protein in newly formed pole cells. pgc protein interacts with the P-TEFb complex (Cdk9 and CycT proteins) and prevents its recruitment to transcription sites.

        Annotation CR32885 renamed CG32885 in release 5.2 of the genome annotation; the change to a protein coding annotation was based on the presence of a conserved CONGO

        exon, which is by definition protein-coding.
