In syncytial blastoderm embryos, Rep protein localizes to the nucleus and chromosome throughout the cell cycle. At prophase, the protein localizes in a punctate pattern around the nuclei, and during metaphase is divided equally to the spindle poles. At telophase, the nuclei reform with Rep protein associated with each nucleus.
