Claspin protein is strongly expressed for the first 6 hours of embryonic development, and weakly expressed at 6-12 hours of development. Expression can also be weakly detected by western blot in late third instar larvae, in pupae, and in female adults, and strongly detected in ovaries. Claspin protein is detected in the nucleus in syncytial embryos during S-phase, but is undetectable during M-phase. Claspin protein is expressed in the third instar eye disc, but is undetectable at the morphogenetic furrow, where cells are arrested in G1 phase.
