MKK3, DMEK3, D-MKK3, p38, DMKK3
a MAP kinase kinase targeting p38 MAP kinase - mutations provoke polarity defects in the eggshell and embryo, as a result of reduced activity of two localized determinants: Oskar and Gurken

Low-frequency RNA-Seq exon junction(s) not annotated.
There is only one protein coding transcript and one polypeptide associated with this gene

lic transcripts are detected in embryos and larvae on northern blots. There appears to be a strong maternal contibution of transcripts to the embryo. In ovaries, lic transcripts are observed in the nurse cells from stage 7 and are transferred to the oocyte beginning in stage 10.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see GBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
When dsRNA constructs are made and transiently transfected into S2 cells in RNAi experiments, an increase in the proportion of G1 phase cells, a whole range of mitotic abnormalities and spindle abnormalities are seen.
dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene tested in RNAi screen for effects on Kc167 and S2R+ cell morphology.
lic is required in the germline during oogenesis, for proper asymmetric development of the egg.
lic functions as a p38 activator suggesting that it is involved in a p38 MAPK pathway.
