ID (Ontology) |

| Definition |
Nerve of larval abdominal segment 8 that has features of both the intersegmental and segmental nerves of more anterior segments (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997). This nerve has three roots, in a pattern corresponding the roots of the segmental and intersegmental nerves of A1-7 (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997). Its proximal section is closely attached to the abdominal 9 nerve (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997). It carries motor neurons that innervate the ventral longitudinal and lateral transverse muscles of A8, and sensory neurons innervating the spiracular hairs and the A8 sensilla (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997).[ FlyBase:FBrf0089570 ] |
