| Definition |
Compound external sense organ of the late embryo or larva that is located in the lower lip of the external opening of the atrium (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997; Richter et al., 2024). It consists of 3 sensilla, one with 3 neurons and the others with one each (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997). Neurons of the labial organ and ventral pharyngeal sense organ form a large cluster flanking the salivary duct (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997).[ FlyBase:FBrf0034076 FlyBase:FBrf0089570 ] |
