| Definition |
Bubble of gas that appears in the center of the prepupa. It then translocates to the posterior of the animal. Rhythmic contractions of the abdominal muscles, accompanied by a swaying motion of the prepupa, moves the gas bubble along the sides of the animal towards the anterior end, driving larval/pupal apolysis (the separation of cuticle from the epidermis) and creating a space at the anterior of the puparium for subsequent adult head eversion.[ FlyBase:FBrf0040740 FlyBase:FBrf0201083 ] |
