| Definition |
A narrow epithelial tube (around 7um in diameter) that carries saliva from the secretory part of the adult salivary glands to the salivary gland common duct. It is lined with a chitinous intima, stiffened by annular, transverse ridges (taenidia). The epithelial cells are stretched thin with nuclei at wide intervals in a narrow band of cytoplasm.[ FlyBase:FBrf0007735 ] |
