General Information
Term twin sensillum of margin 2 ID (Ontology) FBbt:00004339 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition One of two large campaniform sensilla at the most distal point of the wing margin of the distal costa. It is innervated by the second born of the twin sensilla neurons (Murray et al., 1984).[ FlyBase:FBrf0040724 ]
Also Known As "p-DSM" ; "proximal twin sensillum of the wing margin" ; "wing nerve TSM(2)"
Comment This sensillum was classed as a bristle; however, both the initial reference (Murray et al., 1984) and a recent comprehensive study (Dinges et al., 2020 - FBrf0247616) unambiguously describe it as a campaniform sensillum.
