| Definition |
The anterior part of the pleura in the mesothoracic segment of the adult thorax. It is divided transversely by the anapleural suture into an upper part, the anepisternum (mesopleuron) and a lower part, the katepisternum (sternopleuron or preepisternum). The mesothoracic episternum is separated from the mesothoracic epimeron by the pleural suture.[ FlyBase:FBrf0037040 ] |
