| Definition |
Seta (hair) of found on a pulvillus (Husken et al., 2015). It has a thin spatula-like tip, which is coated in fluid secretions and forms a contact zone allowing for adhesion to smooth surfaces (Husken et al., 2015). It does not have an opening near its tip, indicating that fluid secretion may be from porous channels in the setal cuticle (Husken et al., 2015). There are approximately 30 of these per pulvillus (Husken et al., 2015).[ FlyBase:FBrf0166419 FlyBase:FBrf0228206 FlyBase:FBrf0256338 ] |
