Term procuticle ID (Ontology) FBbt:00004975 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Lamellate innermost layer of cuticle between the epicuticle and the epidermis. It consists largely of protein and chitin. Within each lamella layer, chitin-protein fibers are arranged parallel to each other and to the surface of the underlying epidermis.
