Definition Prepupa from when the puparium becomes brown until a gas bubble becomes visible in the abdomen (Bainbridge and Bownes, 1981). In the male, the gonads become less distinct (Bainbridge and Bownes, 1981). The oral armature stops moving permanently and the dorsal medial abdominal contractions stop (Bainbridge and Bownes, 1981).[ FlyBase:FBrf0036849 ]
