| Definition |
Descending neuron belonging to the DNp group, having a cell body on the posterior surface of the brain (Namiki et al., 2018). It has dendritic arbors in the inferior and superior posterior slope that form a characteristic Y shape (Suver et al., 2016; Namiki et al., 2018). It receives a large amount of its input from ocellar ganglion interneurons (Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024). It has a large diameter descending axon and it sends output to the neck neuropil (Suver et al., 2016; Namiki et al., 2018). There is one of these cells per hemisphere and it remains ipsilateral (Namiki et al., 2018). It is cholinergic (Cheong et al., 2024).[ FlyBase:FBrf0234044 FlyBase:FBrf0239335 FlyBase:FBrf0260535 FlyBase:FBrf0260546 ] |
