ID (Ontology) |

| Definition |
Adult octopaminergic neuron with its soma in a ventrolateral location in the subesophageal zone that expresses the receptors for Adipokinetic hormone (Akh) and insulin-like peptides (Ilps) (Yu et al., 2016). There are approximately two to four of these cells per hemisphere (Yu et al., 2016). They send Y-shaped projections into the subesophageal zone (Yu et al., 2016) and also project to the anterior ventrolateral protocerebrum (Sun et al., 2023). They are involved in regulating hyperactivity (Yu et al., 2016) and, in females, receptivity (Sun et al., 2023) in response to starvation.[ FlyBase:FBrf0233606 FlyBase:FBrf0257935 ] |
