General Information
Term larval anus sensory neuron ID (Ontology) FBbt:00048237 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Larval mechanosensory neuron with dendrites forming a thin layer of arbors covering the body wall around the anal slit, with some arborization extending along the rectal sphincter. It is activated when the anus opens and stretches. It projects to the posteriormost part of the ventral nerve cord, and has more intense axonal projections ipsilaterally, forming synapses with the Pdf neurons in this region. There is only one of these cells and its cell body is located stochastically on one side of the midline on the anterior side of the anal slit.[ FlyBase:FBrf0226857 ]
Also Known As "ASN"
Comment Synapsing to Pdf neurons shown by GRASP and functional imaging (Zhang et al., 2014).
