ID (Ontology) |

| Definition |
Female-specific adult descending neuron that stimulates oviposition (Wang et al., 2020). One branch arborizes in the superior medial protocerebrum (Wang et al., 2020; Sturner et al., 2024). Another branch projects ventrally, remaining close to the midline, which it crosses above the esophagus (Wang et al., 2020; Sturner et al., 2024). It projects through the contralateral side of the cervical connective and the median dorsal abdominal tract, and arborizes in the abdominal ganglion (Wang et al., 2020; Sturner et al., 2024). There are approximately 8 of these cells per hemisphere and they belong to the SMPpv1 lineage (Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024; Sturner et al., 2024). They are cholinergic (Wang et al., 2020).[ FlyBase:FBrf0245074 FlyBase:FBrf0257087 FlyBase:FBrf0260535 FlyBase:FBrf0260546 ] |
| Also Known As |
"oviDN" |
| Comment |
Lineage inferred to be SMPpv1, based on this assignment for all oviDNs in FlyWire FAFB, and all oviDNs implied to be same hemilineage in Sturner et al. (2024). Most of this lineage predicted to be cholinergic (Eckstein et al., 2024), in line with Wang et al. (2020) stainings of oviDNa/b. |
