Term oviposition descending neuron oviDNa ID (Ontology) FBbt:00049920 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Oviposition descending neuron with unilateral (contralateral) arborization in the abdominal neuromere, which is relatively anterolateral to that of other oviDN cell types (Wang et al., 2020; Sturner et al., 2024). In the brain, it lacks a dorsal projection beside the midline, instead reaching the superior medial protocerebrum via a lateral loop (Wang et al., 2020; Sturner et al., 2024). It also has an ipsilateral ventral neurite (Wang et al., 2020; Sturner et al., 2024). There is one of these cells per hemisphere (Sturner et al., 2024). It expresses fruitless, but not doublesex (Wang et al., 2020).[ FlyBase:FBrf0245074 ]
