Term adult tubercle-tubercle medial zone neuron ID (Ontology) FBbt:00051488 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Glutamatergic neuron that connects the medial zones of the anterior optic tubercle neuropils of both hemispheres (Schretter et al., 2025). There are two of these neurons per hemisphere and they have similar morphology, but are functionally antagonistic in female aggression or male courtship (Schretter et al., 2025). These cells do not have gross morphological differences between sexes (Schretter et al., 2025).[ FlyBase:FBrf0261440 ]
