General Information
Term adult fudog subesophageal neuron ID (Ontology) FBbt:00051883 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Adult descending neuron with its soma in the lateral subesophageal zone (Sterne et al., 2021; Shiu et al., 2024). It has both dendritic and axonal arborization in the gnathal ganglion, with mainly postsynapses ipsilaterally and mainly presynapses contralaterally (Sterne et al., 2021; Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024). In the VNC, it follows the curved ventrolateral tract (Sturner et al., 2024). It receives substantial input from sugar-sensing gustatory neurons (Shiu et al., 2022). It is predicted to a be cholinergic primary neuron (Shiu et al., 2022; Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024). Comment Neurotransmitter prediction based on machine learning classification (Shiu et al., 2022). FlyWire DNg67 mapped to fudog in Shiu et al. (2024) - FBrf0260565 supplement. DNg67 identified at light level and matched across EM datasets by Sturner et al. (2024). Not classified as descending in Sterne et al. (2021), but axon leaving the brain visible in figures in Sterne et al. (2021) and Shiu et al. (2022).
