adult large bilateral optic lobe serotonergic interneuron |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00053238 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Adult serotonergic neuron with a large cell body near the midline in the posterior protocerebrum and bilateral extensions to the optic lobes (Nassel et al., 1988; Kolodziejczyk et al., 2011). In the optic lobes, it arborizes in the lobula, lobula plate and medulla synaptic neuropils (Kolodziejczyk et al., 2011). Its axon runs past the medulla and passes through the first optic chiasma to innervate a layer just distal to the lamina synaptic neuropil (Kolodziejczyk et al., 2011). There is one of these cells per hemisphere (Nassel et al., 1988; Kolodziejczyk et al., 2011).[ FlyBase:FBrf0212940 FlyBase:FBrf0260226 ] |
