| Definition | Adult lobula plate tangential neuron with its dendrites spanning around 200 columns of the anterior part of the visual field in lobula plate layer 2 (Zhao et al., 2023; Nern et al., 2025). It also has a smaller number of mixed pre- and post-synapses in layer 1 (Nern et al., 2025). In the central brain, it remains ipsilateral and sends output to the lateral accessory lobe (Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024). Its predicted neurotransmitter is GABA (Eckstein et al., 2024; Nern et al., 2025).
