Term transmedullary neuron Tm32 ID (Ontology) FBbt:00053514 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Transmedullary neuron that has pre- and post-synapses in around 25 columns of medulla layers M7-M8 and around 15 columns of lobula layer 5B (Nern et al., 2025). Its soma is found distal to the medulla (Nern et al., 2025). It is predicted to be glutamatergic (Eckstein et al., 2024; Nern et al., 2025). There are around 55-60 of these cells on each side (Nern et al., 2025).[ FlyBase:FBrf0259490 FlyBase:FBrf0260545 FlyBase:FBrf0262545 ]
Also Known As "Tm32" ; "Tm33"
Comment Cell type identified in two sets of EM data (Matsliah et al., 2024; Nern et al., 2025) and at light level (Nern et al., 2025).
