| Definition |
Ostial cell of the larval dorsal vessel. There are 12 of these cells per dorsal vessel, forming a total of 3 pairs of ostia, which are located in the posterior dorsal vessel (heart) (Lehmacher et al., 2012). It develops from an embryonic ostial cardioblast (Lehmacher et al., 2012). During metamorphosis, the 8 cells forming the two posterior pairs are hystolized and the 4 cells of the anterior-most pair persist to form the posteriormost adult ostia (Lehmacher et al., 2012).[ FlyBase:FBrf0219200 FlyBase:FBrf0238157 ] |
