General Information
|
| Term |
ventral cervical muscle 25 |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00058825 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Ventral cervical muscle that connects to a more posterior medial region of the sternal apodeme than muscle 26 (Miller, 1950; Rivlin et al., 2004). There is one of these muscles on each side, innervated by a single motor neuron (Koenig and Ikeda, 1989; Gorko et al., 2024). Its motor neuron arrives via the cervical nerve and forms a branch for each of the six muscle fibers, with each branch bifurcating to run anterior-posterior along its fiber (Koenig and Ikeda, 1989).[ FlyBase:FBrf0050378 FlyBase:FBrf0167817 FlyBase:FBrf0186027 FlyBase:FBrf0259326 ] |
| Also Known As |
"adult cervical sclerite retractor muscle" ; "SC-RE muscle" ; "ventromedial cervical muscle" |
| Comment |
Based on sternal apodeme attachment posteromedial to muscle 26 and innervation via cervical nerve, this seems to correspond to SC-RE in Gorko et al. (2024). |
