General Information
Term ventral cervical muscle 26 ID (Ontology) FBbt:00058826 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Ventral cervical muscle that connects to a more anterior lateral region of the sternal apodeme than muscle 25 (Miller, 1950; Rivlin et al., 2004). It is spindle-shaped and comprises 3-4 fibers (Rivlin et al., 2004).[ FlyBase:FBrf0167817 FlyBase:FBrf0186027 FlyBase:FBrf0259326 ]
Also Known As "adult cervical sclerite rotator muscle" ; "SC-RO muscle"
Comment Based on sternal apodeme attachment between muscles 25 and 27, this seems to correspond to SC-RO in Gorko et al. (2024). Two of these exist per side in Calliphora (Strausfeld et al., 1987 - doi:10.1007/BF00609727).
