| Term |
haltere dorsal ventral muscle |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00058939 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Relatively large haltere muscle that extends dorsoventrally and attaches to the cuticle near the base of the haltere (Lawrence, 1982; Dickerson et al., 2019). It provides the power for haltere movement, analogous to dorsoventral muscles of the wing (Dickerson et al., 2019; Ehrhardt et al., 2023).[ FlyBase:FBrf0037610 FlyBase:FBrf0186027 FlyBase:FBrf0243782 ] |
| Also Known As |
"haltere indirect asynchronous power muscle" ; "haltere muscle 77" ; "hDVM" |
| Comment |
Muscle 77 in Lawrence (1982) (following Miller, 1950 nomenclature) is a relatively long muscle described as attaching near the base of the haltere - so probably corresponds to the haltere DVM (hDVM) in Dickerson et al. (2019) and Ehrhardt et al. (2023). |
