General Information
Term posterior tarsal retro depressor muscle ID (Ontology) FBbt:00059106 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Tarsal retro depressor muscle that originates on the posterior side of the distal tibia (Soler et al., 2004; Azevedo et al., 2024). It is composed of 4 or 5 fibers (Soler et al., 2004).[ FlyBase:FBrf0180184 ]
Also Known As "posterior tarsal reductor muscle" ; "tarm1" ; "tarsal reductor muscle 1"
Comment Soler et al. (2004) say that fibers of these muscles do not attach to a tendon, this is corrected in Azevedo et al. (2024), who show that they insert on the tarsus depressor tendon - hence rename to tarsus retro depressor muscle.
