| Definition | Epithelial cell of the second zone of the adult proventriculus epithelium (King, 1988). This is a columnar cell with irregular cytoplasmic extensions (narrow folds and microvilli) which project into the extracellular material beneath the overlying cuticle. Its basal end is slightly narrower than its apex and inclined posteriorly.
