| Definition | Epithelial cell of the sixth zone of the adult proventriculus epithelium (King, 1988). These are cuboidal cells characterized by short, straight, closely packed microvilli and an irregularly infolded basal membrane. They secrete the fourth layer of the peritrophic membrane, as well as digestive enzymes (Zhu et al., 2024).
