General Information
Term giant sensillum of the dorsal radius neuron ID (Ontology) FBbt:00100116 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Large sensory neuron (approximately 20 by 10 micrometres) innervating the single large campaniform sensillum of the dorsal radius (Palka et al., 1979).[ FlyBase:FBrf0032909 FlyBase:FBrf0040724 ]
Comment Murray et al. (1984) state that "...each neuron of the adult wing is conventionally designated by the abbreviation of the name of the sensillum to which it belongs, e.g. the neuron of the giant sensillum of the radius is called the GSR". We do not use this convention as it will likely result in confusion, but instead use it as a synonym.
