| Term |
octopaminergic AL2i neuron |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00110140 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Octopaminergic neuron of the AL2 cluster which innervates the ipsilateral optic lobe. Secondary processes originating in the posterior slope terminate in the optic lobe, forming varicose terminals. In the posterior slope, thin processes branch off the neurite that projects to the optic lobe, innervating the ventral inferior posterior slope forming varicose terminals. There are four different subtypes of AL2i neurons, AL2i1-4, which differ in their arborization patterns (Busch et al., 2009).[ FlyBase:FBrf0207458 ] |

| Comment |
The neurotransmitter was assessed by immunostaining with an anti-octopamine (OA) antibody in cells labelled with tdc2-GAL4 (FBti0101786) and NP7088-GAL4 (FBti0037217). Post- versus pre-synaptic innervation was determined using the postsynaptic marker Rdl-HA or the presynaptic marker Synaptotagmin-HA (Busch et al., 2009). |
