| Term |
adult fruitless aSP-k (female) neuron |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00110469 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Adult fruitless neuron of the female with its cell body lateral to the lateral horn, dendritic arborization in the lateral horn and axonal projections to the lateral protocerebral complex (Yu et al., 2010). It receives input in the wedge and outputs onto and inhibits the female doublesex pMN2 (vpoDN) neuron (Wang et al., 2021). Most of its synaptic terminals are in the anterior ventrolateral protocerebrum (Yu et al., 2010; Baker et al., 2022). A projection also extends across the midline (Yu et al., 2010; Baker et al., 2022). It preferentially responds to male sine song, rather than pulse song (Baker et al., 2022). There are approximately 20 of these cells per hemisphere (Cachero et al., 2010).[ FlyBase:FBrf0205974 FlyBase:FBrf0211884 FlyBase:FBrf0211926 FlyBase:FBrf0221438 FlyBase:FBrf0247919 FlyBase:FBrf0254226 ] |
| Also Known As |
"adult female fruitless aSP8 neuron" ; "female aSP-k neuron" ; "female aSP3c neuron" (for all, see Synonyms field below) |
| Comment |
Wang et al. (2020) - FBrf0247919 states that aSP-k neurons are probably a subset of vpoIN. Based on Hemibrain data, all these (aSP8) cells cross the midline, so probably correspond to the 'commissural' subset of vpoIN neurons, AVLP_pr02, in Baker et al. (2022) - FBrf0254226. |
