Term adult fruitless pIP10 (male) neuron ID (Ontology) FBbt:00110854 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Male-specific fruitless neuron with its soma in the medial posterior brain (von Phillipsborn et al., 2011). It extends neurites bilaterally innervating the periesophageal region and the lateral protocerebrum; one long process descends to the ventral nerve cord, where it extensively innervates the wing neuropil (von Phillipsborn et al., 2011). There is one of these cells per hemisphere and it is cholinergic (Lillvis et al., 2024).
