antennal mechanosensory and motor center AMMC PN3 projection neuron |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00111292 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Adult antennal mechanosensory and motor center (AMMC) projection neuron with its cell body is located medially, dorsal to the protocerebral bridge, and a primary neurite that projects ventrally, close to the midline (Matsuo et al., 2016; Chang et al., 2016). Its dendritic branch innervates zones C and E of the AMMC (Chang et al., 2016) and an axonal branch projects to the wedge (Vaughan et al., 2014; Chang et al., 2016). There are also presynapses on the dendritic branch (Vaughan et al., 2014). It responds to displacement of the antenna (Chang et al., 2016). There are around 7 of these cells per hemisphere (Vaughan et al., 2014).[ FlyBase:FBrf0225096 FlyBase:FBrf0230862 FlyBase:FBrf0234267 ] |
| Also Known As |
"AMMC projection neuron 3" ; "aPN3" |
| Comment |
Matsuo et al. (2016) say that dendrites are in zones B and E, but Chang et al. (2016) show that dendrites are restricted to zones C/E and aPN3 is not activated by A/B JONs, in accordance with Vaughan et al. (2014). |
