| Term |
adult sex peptide sensory neuron |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00111303 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Sensory neuron of the female reproductive tract that responds to sex peptide (Hasemeyer et al., 2009; Yang et al., 2009). There is one cell body of these cells on each lateral oviduct and 3 on either side of the uterus (Yang et al., 2009).[ FlyBase:FBrf0207501 FlyBase:FBrf0207523 FlyBase:FBrf0225544 ] |
| Also Known As |
"sex-peptide neuron" ; "SP sensing neuron" ; "SP-sensing neuron" (for all, see Synonyms field below) |
| Comment |
These neurons express both fruitless (FBgn0004652) and pickpocket (FBgn0020258) (Yang et al., 2009; Hasemeyer et al., 2009). Sex peptide receptor appears to be axonal, rather than dendritic (Yang et al., 2009). |
