ID (Ontology) |

| Definition |
Lobula columnar neuron whose cell body lies in the anterior area of the lateral cell body rind (Wu et al., 2016). It has its main dendritic arbors in lobula layers 5A-6 (Wu et al., 2016; Tanaka and Clark, 2022). Presynaptic sites are observed in layers 5A and 6 (Wu et al., 2016). Its arbors span approximately 40 optic columns, overlapping with other LC20 cells (Wu et al., 2016). It projects to a very small and posterior optic glomerulus of the PVLP, not closely associated with other glomeruli and variable in shape between individuals (Wu et al., 2016). There are around 29 cells of this type (Wu et al., 2016).[ FlyBase:FBrf0233032 FlyBase:FBrf0234700 FlyBase:FBrf0253297 ] |

| Comment |
Pre- versus postsynaptic innervation assessed with a presynaptic marker (synaptotagmin-HA driver) (Wu et al., 2016). Nern et al. (2025) - FBrf0262545 split this into LC20a and LC20b and identify both with distinct drivers at light level, but unclear what features differentiate them. |
