| Term |
adult superior posterior slope-bulb-tubercle neuron |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:20000045 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Adult neuron that receives input in the ipsilateral superior posterior slope and inferior bridge, then projects dorsally and bifurcates, arborizing in the bulbs and anterior optic tubercle (AOTU) small units of both hemispheres (Hulse et al., 2021; Tai et al., 2021). Terminals in the bulbs are mainly presynaptic, whereas those in the AOTU regions are mixed (Hulse et al., 2021). There are two of these cells per hemisphere and they provide input to tubercle-bulb neurons (Hulse et al., 2021). It develops from the DM6 neuroblast (Kandimalla et al., 2023).[ FlyBase:FBrf0248513 FlyBase:FBrf0254510 FlyBase:FBrf0257023 ] |
| Also Known As |
"adult anterior optic tubercle neuron 046" ; "adult AOTU046 neuron" ; "AOTU046" (for all, see Synonyms field below) |
| Comment |
Hulse et al. (2021) say these innervate a dorsal layer of the fan-shaped body, but only 3/4 neurons in Neuprint 1.2.1 have this and it is not shown in Tai et al. (2021). |
