| Term | adult DNad001 neuron | ID (Ontology) | FBbt:20008190 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition | Adult descending neuron (Takemura et al., 2024; Marin et al., 2024). It enters the VNC via the cervical connective (Takemura et al., 2024; Marin et al., 2024). Its morphology in the brain is similar to that of the female oviDN neurons, forming a loop in the superior brain, crossing the midline above the esophagus, arborizing lateral to the esophagus and entering the cervical connective on the contralateral side (Sturner et al., 2024). Within the VNC it fasciculates with the median dorsal abdominal tract and forms no significant arbors until reaching the abdominal neuromere, where it has presynapses (Takemura et al., 2024; Marin et al., 2024; Sturner et al., 2024). Its predicted neurotransmitter is acetylcholine (Eckstein et al., 2024). There are approximately 2 of these cells per organism (Takemura et al., 2024; Marin et al., 2024; Sturner et al., 2024). | ||
