General Information
Term labial nerve sensory descending neuron 2 ID (Ontology) FBbt:20008293 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Adult sensory neuron that enters the brain via the maxillary-labial nerve and arborizes in the gnathal ganglion and nearby regions (Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Schlegel et al., 2024; Sturner et al., 2024). It descends to the ventral nerve cord and follows the ventral median tract of ventral cervical fasciculus (Takemura et al., 2024; Sturner et al., 2024). It sends output to the leg neuropil (Takemura et al., 2024; Marin et al., 2024). Its predicted neurotransmitter is acetylcholine (Eckstein et al., 2024). There are approximately 2 of these cells on each side (Sturner et al., 2024).
