General Information
Term adult medulla intrinsic neuron Mi16 ID (Ontology) FBbt:20011490 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Adult medulla intrinsic neuron of the Mi16 group (Nern et al., 2025). It receives input in the ipsilateral medulla layer M4 (Nern et al., 2025). It sends output to the ipsilateral medulla (Nern et al., 2025). Its predicted neurotransmitter is GABA (Eckstein et al., 2024; Nern et al., 2025). There are approximately 87 of these cells per hemisphere (Nern et al., 2025).[ FlyBase:FBrf0259490 FlyBase:FBrf0260535 FlyBase:FBrf0260545 FlyBase:FBrf0260546 FlyBase:FBrf0262545 ]
Also Known As "Mi16"
Comment Cell type identified in multiple EM datasets (Matsliah et al., 2025; Schlegel et al., 2024; Dorkenwald et al., 2024; Nern et al., 2025). Synapse locations are given where each cell of this type in neuprint has at least 10 connections. Other information from Nern et al. (2025) supplements.
