ID (Ontology) |
FBcv:0003008 (FlyBase CV) |
| Definition |
Sequence change caused by a cleavage of a specific DNA sequence induced by CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats)/Cas9 nuclease system. This system relies on the transcription of a chimeric guide RNA (gRNA) which directs the Cas9 endonuclease to a specified DNA sequence through basepairing to 20 nucleotide CRISPR target sites. These sites are located next to a 3 nucleotide protospacer adjacent motif (PAM) required for DNA cleavage.[ FlyBase:FBrf0222128 FlyBase:FBrf0222292 FlyBase:FBrf0222617 ] |
