General Information
Term CRISPR/Cas9 ID (Ontology) FBcv:0003008 (FlyBase CV)
Definition Sequence change caused by a cleavage of a specific DNA sequence induced by CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats)/Cas9 nuclease system. This system relies on the transcription of a chimeric guide RNA (gRNA) which directs the Cas9 endonuclease to a specified DNA sequence through basepairing to 20 nucleotide CRISPR target sites. These sites are located next to a 3 nucleotide protospacer adjacent motif (PAM) required for DNA cleavage.[ FlyBase:FBrf0222128 FlyBase:FBrf0222292 FlyBase:FBrf0222617 ]
Also Known As "change induced by CRISPR/Cas9 endonuclease cleavage"
