General Information
|
| Term |
chromophore-assisted light inactivation tag |
ID (Ontology) |
FBcv:0005041 (FlyBase CV) |
| Definition |
Sequence that forms part of the protein encoded by a transgenic locus or modified endogenous locus and which allows a protein to be inactivated by the chromophore-assisted light inactivation (CALI) technique. The tag consists of a peptide sequence that specifically binds a membrane-permeable, chromophore-containing molecule. When activated using a pulse of high-intensity light that is absorbed by the chromophore but not by cellular components, the membrane-permeable molecule generates short-lived reactive oxygen species which inactivate the tagged protein to which the molecule is bound via the chromophore-assisted light inactivation tag.[ PubMed:14625562 PubMed:16605242 PubMed:21226520 PubMed:3399501 ] |
