ID (Ontology) |

| Definition |
Lobula complex columnar neuron with its soma in the lateral brain cell body rind (Shinomiya et al., 2022). It has a dendritic branch with more proximal arbors in the lobula more distal arbors in the lobula plate (Fischbach and Dittrich, 1989; Strausfeld and Gilbert, 1992; Shinomiya et al., 2019; Shinomiya et al., 2022). It has an axonal branch that projects to the central brain (Fischbach and Dittrich, 1989; Strausfeld and Gilbert, 1992; Shinomiya et al., 2019; Shinomiya et al., 2022).[ FlyBase:FBrf0049410 FlyBase:FBrf0240360 FlyBase:FBrf0243899 FlyBase:FBrf0254308 ] |

"Lccn1" ; "lobula complex columnar neuron Lccn1" ; "lobula plate-lobula neuron LPL" (for all, see Synonyms field below) |
| Comment |
These neurons were first described in Drosophila by Fischbach and Dittrich (1989), who named them lobula complex columnar neurons type 1 (Lccn1). Similar neurons were later found in other diptera (Strausfeld and Gilbert, 1992) and named lobula plate-lobula neurons (LPL); that later terminology is now predominant in the literature. |
