Definition Compound sense organ located in the cibarium of the adult pharynx, near the upper end of the posterior cibarial plate. It comprises two sense organs, dorsal and ventral, that are innervated by gustatory receptor neurons.[ FlyBase:FBrf0035962 FlyBase:FBrf0167539 ]
Comment This term, as used by Miller in Demerec (1994) refers only to the dorsal cibarial sense organ (Stocker and Schorderet, 1981).
