Term coeloconic sensillum of antennal segment 3 ID (Ontology) FBbt:00004177 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Olfactory coeloconic sensillum that is part of antennal segment 3 (Shanbhag et al., 1999). It has a double cuticular wall surrounding a central lumen that houses olfactory receptor neuron dendrites (Shanbhag et al., 1999). Its base is smooth, but distally it its is composed of cuticular fingers, between which run longitudinal grooves (Shanbhag et al., 1999). In the distal part of the sensillum, the central lumen is connected to the longitudinal grooves by radial spoke channels (Shanbhag et al., 1999).[ FlyBase:FBrf0104820 FlyBase:FBrf0128642 FlyBase:FBrf0250923 ]
