| Term |
larval dorsal sensory cluster |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00007296 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Cluster of sense organs, and the somas and dendrites of sensory neurons, located dorsally, close to the surface of a larval segment (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997). It lies above the dorsal insertion of the lateral transverse muscles, outside the dorsal intersegmental muscles (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997). The pattern of sense organs and neurons is highly similar in segments A1-7, and slightly modified in the thoracic segments (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997). The axons of neurons in this cluster fasciculate with the intersegmental nerve (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1997).[ FlyBase:FBrf0089570 ] |
| Also Known As |
"dorsal group of sensory organs" ; "embryonic/larval thoracic/abdominal dorsal sensory cluster" ; "larval thoracic/abdominal dorsal sensory cluster" |
| Comment |
Terminal (A8-10) segments have substantially different morphology, such that no 'dorsal cluster' is present as seen in more anterior segments. |
