General Information
Term anterior maxillary sensory center ID (Ontology) FBbt:00040057 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Region of the adult tritocerebrum that houses the axonal terminals of sensory neurons that enter the brain via the anterior root of the maxillary-labial nerve (Miyazaki and Ito, 2010; Kendroud et al., 2018) including gustatory receptor neurons of labellum sensilla (Miyazaki and Ito, 2010). It forms part of the anterior ventral sensory compartment (Kendroud et al., 2018). Three distinct subregions can be identified: a lateral anteriormost zone (AMS1), a lateralmost zone (AMS2) and a medial zone that reaches the midline (AMS3) (Miyazaki and Ito, 2010).[ FlyBase:FBrf0211916 FlyBase:FBrf0224194 ]
Also Known As "AMS"
Comment Carbon-dioxide-sensitive neurons from the medial taste pegs of the labellum (identified in E409-GAL4 and NP107-GAL4) terminate in the AMS1 zone (Miyazaki and Ito, 2010).
